Föreläsning - The Antikythera Shipwreck / Antikytheravraket

Föreläsning med Brendan Foley, Institutionen för Arkeologi och Antikens historia, Lunds universitet.

The Antikythera Shipwreck (circa 65 BCE) is the richest ancient wreck yet discovered. Best-known for the famous Antikythera Mechanism, the wreck also has produced 36 marble sculptures and elements of nine bronze sculptures, and hundreds of elite artifacts including statuettes, gold jewelry, glassware, and coins. Recent excavations by an international team at depths to 56 m have delivered human skeletal remains, bronze sculpture elements, the ship's defensive weapon, and much more. This presentation will detail the latest finds and underwater archaeological technologies, and offer a new interpretation of the Antikythera Shipwreck.

Föreläsningen hålls på engelska.
